How to update your wishlist when the wedding is postponed

Что пересмотреть в уже отправленном списке после смены даты свадьбы и как оставить гостям одну понятную актуальную версию.

✨ Quick step

Preparing a wedding?

Create a wedding wishlist so guests can choose useful gifts and reply about attendance.

When a wedding is postponed, manually review the wishlist you have already shared. Check the event date and handover timing first, then seasonal wishes, product links and item notes. Keep one current page where possible. If the new date is undecided, say that gift timing is still being arranged rather than encouraging urgent purchases.

Guests need practical information, not the reason for postponement. Explain what remains relevant and which gifts need further agreement.

Establish what has actually changed

Review the list together. Separate confirmed decisions from assumptions. Do not present a tentative date as final. If the interface requires a date you cannot yet provide, ask support about the available process rather than inventing one.

A temporary review table can help. Keep guest contacts and order details out of it, and do not circulate it as a second wishlist.

Protect gifts already in progress

Changing the date does not automatically cancel a gift. Do not ask guests to reveal their choices publicly or send receipts. Invite a private message if the new timing creates a problem.

Do not silently turn a reserved item into a different product. Discuss the situation first while preserving the surprise where possible. Sellers determine order changes and return conditions; a wishlist does not.

Review in one pass

  1. Agree on the new date or an honest statement that it is undecided.
  2. Update handover notes in the introduction and items. If only the celebration moved, do not change a civil ceremony date that has already passed.
  3. Reconsider seasonal and time-dependent wishes.
  4. Open product links manually and check the model and variant. Remove private checkout links and tokens.
  5. Check proposed edits against gifts already selected. Resolve uncertain cases privately.
  6. Read the guest page on a phone and check for conflicting dates.
  7. Tell guests the list has been updated. Editing alone is not evidence that anyone was notified.

Example: a summer celebration moves to winter

A couple moves the party from July to December. A summer experience needs new availability checks with the provider; a seasonal item needs a fresh specification. An already prepared, still useful gift can remain.

> Our celebration date has changed. We checked the list on 29 October: wishes and notes are current, and handover will be agreed for the new date. If you have already prepared something and the timing is difficult, please contact us privately.

Adapt the wording and use your actual review date. Do not publish health information or family circumstances.

Keep one current version

A single shared note or table can work if you update it and remove old copies from pinned messages where possible. Check what someone following the old link will understand.

The public Osanta wedding page brings gifts and wedding details together under one link. It describes an email-based start for the owner and guest access without registration. This can replace scattered copies, but the couple still performs the review and contacts guests.

If your list is already in Osanta, begin with that list in your account. A second one can create confusion. When moving from another format, transfer current wishes manually and identify the active link. Do not assume automatic updates, version history or notifications.

Use the separate after-sharing update guide for routine maintenance and the post-wedding closure guide after the event.

Before sharing again

  • Timing is confirmed or uncertainty is explicit.
  • Item notes and the introduction agree.
  • Seasonal wishes and links have been checked.
  • Selected gifts were not replaced without discussion.
  • One version is clearly current.
  • Private reasons, contacts and order details are absent.

Questions on this topic

Do we need a new wishlist?

Start by updating the existing list to avoid two competing versions. A new format may make sense when deliberately moving current wishes from another platform.

What if the new date is unknown?

Say that handover timing is still being arranged. Ask guests to wait on purchases that depend on a date, and do not present an estimate as confirmed.

Can we remove a selected gift?

Do not remove or replace it without checking. Offer a private conversation without demanding a public disclosure of the gift or giver.

Will guests be notified automatically?

Do not assume that. After the manual review, send a separate update with one current link.

Must we explain the postponement?

No. The wishlist only needs current timing, wishes and handover arrangements. Private reasons and health or family circumstances can remain private.
